Practise before you need it
Wear your existing jacket in ordinary rain before replacing it. Check cuffs, hood movement and whether your glasses remain usable. Repair small faults before buying more equipment.
Record where the equipment is kept, who can use it and when it next needs checking. Keep essential instructions on paper or saved offline. A useful item you understand is worth more than a bag of unfamiliar gadgets.
